Explains the developmental process of fibromyalgia and demonstrates the hands-on protocol of full-body massage for patients with fibromyalgia.

Clinical symptoms
The main clinical symptom is pain that increases: at night, during deep breathing, when the head is bent and turned to the unaffected side, and when the arm is abducted. The pain spreads to the shoulder, armpit and lateral part of the thoracic cage. Also, patients complain about numbness and paraesthesia on the ulnar edge of the hand (hypothenar and 4th-5th fingers) and arm. One of the most important diagnostic signs is diversity of vasomotor changes. These can be the result of insufficient arterial blood supply to the arm (pain in the hand especially after exposure to lower temperatures; pale, cold skin; cyanosis; weak pulse) or insufficient venous blood drainage from the arm (edemas and increased skin temperature). If anterior scalene muscle syndrome exists for a long period of time, without adequate treatment, the hand will lose its strength because of muscle atrophy mostly at the ulnar edge of the arm and the hypothenar.
An important clinical sign involves Wartenberg’s test. If the examiner palpates in the spot where the anterior scalene muscle inserts into the first rib, local pain will appear. This test allows the practitioner to differentiate anterior scalene muscle syndrome can secondarily evoke rotator cuff syndrome. This is a very important diagnostic test because irritation of the brachial plexus by an over-tensed anterior scalene muscle can secondarily evoke rotator cuff syndrome. if the practitioner mistakenly starts treatment of this pathology as a rotator cuff syndrome, it will not yield significant results because the real cause of the problem is anterior scalene muscle syndrome.

    Dear kelim92.
Thank you for Activator Act description. any sharp and?or forcible act will cause FM patients suffering, aggravation of symptoms ets. in my opinion you perfectly explained why Activator shouldn’t be applied in cases of FM.
    Best wishes

    Dear agnesbirlow.
I am happy that somehow could contribute. would like to ask you to place this comment- question on my youtube” lower back disorders” clip. By referring to the clip will be much easier to answer precisely. I promise to answer your question in details. thanks.

  15. agnesbirlow Said,

    I’m glad I started …
I’m glad I started this thread. Your answers helped me clarify the confusion regarding CEU choices. Speaking of confusion, can you explain the massage on buttocks from the lower back disorder fragment? I’ve always avoided providing such treatment. Is this ethical, legal?

  16. kelim92 Said,

    Activator is not …
Activator is not electrical. It’s a handheld device that sharply jars the bone “back into place.” This is terrible for myofascial pain because the muscle is already shortened and you’re forcing the muscle to rip.

  17. mgaft1 Said,

    my clinical …
my clinical experience proved that this methodology is safe and very effective. Why I shouldn’t to continue practicing this protocols? should I start study” something new” that do not have enough of clinical prove on safety and effectiveness or even wasn’t developed through research. Only ” NEW”Will not change my way of treatment. Therapy is about safe and sustained results and not about to be new or old . this is the reason why I am continue to practice this protocols.
    Best.

  18. mgaft1 Said,

    I’m practicing …
I’m practicing methodology that was developed true research which means this protocols where tested against placebo and was developed to be safe and effective. by learn new techniques is not enough to achieve”feeling of confidence and a piece of mind” but if this methodology works. massage therapy contain different discipline and expertise. Sports massage helps prevent sports related injuries as well to perform better but as you understand now is not to treat sports related injurys.

  19. mgaft1 Said,

    I don’t know what …
I don’t know what did you meant saying “new sports massage for sports related injuries” . but in cases of sports related injuries we are utilizing orthopedic massage protocols.
there is no different if somebody will sprain- strain lower/ upper back, neck, shoulder, knee, wrist and other parts, at the time of sports activities,or at work place or at home or just missed stepping at streets, this is still will be injury that should be treated by specially designed orthopedic massage.

  20. mgaft1 Said,

    Dear agnesbirlow

    Dear agnesbirlow
During my career I also did study new protocols. for example: after being in practice 10 years, 25 years ago I learned lymphatic drainage techniques for detoxification and since successfully utilizing. Since and to this day I never lost interest to read research data papers. Please keep in mind that during 4 years of grad. school almost daily I was study something new. In this case “60 years old” is a clinical prove that methodology safe and effective.

  21. agnesbirlow Said,

    Boris,

    You’ve …
    Boris,

You’ve avoided a direct answer. Let me reiterate. Why use 60 years old techniques rather than learn something new?

  22. mgaft1 Said,

    Dear agnesbirlow.
    ” …

    Dear agnesbirlow.
“NEW” doesn’t mean better. the question how much you believe in methodology that you are applying. I mean how certain you are about your clinical work. according to comment that few months ago you posted at my youtube “Medical Massage Large man back” clip, this approach is new for you. I would recommend to study.
    Best wishes.
    Boris.

  23. agnesbirlow Said,

    Boris,

    I am …
    Boris,

I am practicing massage therapy for already 15 years now and have been watching your videos since they were downloaded. It’s not that I don’t like them. I just have this nagging question: why would you teach such dated techniques: 50-60 years old? Why not learning something new? Something like new sports massage for sports related injuries or skeleton muscular techniques. I’m learning something new my entire career and this gives me a feeling of confidence and a piece of mind.

  24. slobomotion Said,

    Thank you, Boris. …
Thank you, Boris. I told some other patients how good Mr. Camus was and he got more work. I thanked him personally and paid him immediately. Such good care deserves praise and prompt payment! Carry on!

  25. mgaft1 Said,

    Dear slobomotion.

    Dear slobomotion.
European medical massage for last 60 years is a recognize conventional medicine procedure. we all study and utilizing the same step by step hands on protocols as was developed through research. therefore very possible that Mr.Camus provided to you the same therapy. but again is most important that you get improved. honestly I am very happy for you. send my congratulations to Mr.Camus God bless you.
